Moldova a facut progrese notabile in apropierea de Uniunea Europeana. Aceste realizari insa nu trebuie periclitate si este necesar sa fie continuate efroturile, avand in vedere in deosebi faptul ca se preconizeaza finalizarea negocierilor Acordului de Asociere [UE-Moldova].

Stefan Füle: Moldova’s “achievements should not be jeopardized”

I would like to know whether [the dismantlement of the AEI] is a surprise for you and your Cabinet and how could this crisis be overcome in order to avoid compromising Moldova’s path to Europe?

We have been following closely the current political situation in Moldova and are well aware of the internal difficulties in the Alliance for European Integration. In our dialogue with Moldova we have always underlined the importance of political stability in the country.

In our view, it is crucial that political leaders in Moldova do their best to overcome the current political instability by finding a solution at the negotiation table. The current political situation can only distract attention from much needed reforms, the securing of which is the primary concern for citizens and the European Union. Moldova has made good progress in getting closer to the European Union. These achievements should not be jeopardized and work needs to be carried forward, in particular considering that the finalisation of the Association Agreement negotiations is within sight.
